Aging: Why do I need a dog?

Oh my gosh I need a dog! My life is not perfect.

My son had his 50th birthday yesterday and that is reason enough to need something warm to snuggle.  Besides that my daughter had a little surgery last week and she just "wanted to be left alone!" Then to top it off my youngest son was in the hospital with a severe infection and his beautiful wife took care of him.

I am not allowed to boss my children or
grandchildren around and I am not allowed to give advice and stuff like that. The grandchildren don't like it when I smooch them in public. Children remind me that "Grandmother is not in control."

We own a cat but it doesn't like me much. So I may be buying a dog. I need something to boss around, take care of and control. A dog won't correct me when I use the wrong word or make fun of me because I am...well me. And I don't think a dog would mind if I smooched it in public. Yes, it appears only a dog will fit the bill. I will let you know how it goes.

Have a wonderful day!

    1. You REALLY understand what I am saying...! When a dog acts up you can say "Well it's just a dog!" but when a husband acts up there is nothing to be said.

  2. Riley says, "good luck with that 'control something' thought..." Hahhh. Please consider adopting a rescue or shelter dog. Thank you.

  3. Bailey has been an amazing addition to our family, though I think for the past 2 years she has been my boss.

    1. I know what you mean but then she is so cute and loves you unconditionally. Best of all she needs you...if even to boss around.

  4. We love our dog. We take care of our dog. And we boss her around too. But she pays no more attention to us than our kids do!

    1. I know what you mean but she allows you to take care of it...right? My children don't need me for that any more.

  5. The dog also gives you an excuse to talk to yourself-you can always say you were talking to the dog. And I agree. the dogs are in charge, they just keep me around. If you are looking to exert control, a dog may not be the best place.

    1. Well the control part may have been a flaw in my thinking. I do like the talking part though. That is very important.

  6. If you want stubborn ... a basset hound or bloodhound will do ... I love mine.

    1. Really? I don't need stubborn. I have a husband for that. Sorry Steve!

  7. Consider another cat to ignore you?

    1. As long as Earl is around, cats are as good as nothing to me. He is Dr. Doolittle and can talk to all kinds of animals. I think he tells them how hard I am to get along with. :)
