What do you have on your bedside table?

It seems like a foolish question but I wonder what your bedside table reveals about you. Do you even have one or are you one of those people that reserves their bedroom for sleeping?

Family Pictures?
My husband and I like our bedroom a lot and we spend time in that space not sleeping. You might find a cough drop, an iPad, remotes for TV, Apple TV and the cable on our stands. But there is also a book, crossword puzzle magazine and Kleenex. The Kleenex is on my husband's side even though he doesn't use it. My side has an inhaler. I would like to have a plant on my side but I haven't found just the perfect one. Maybe an African Violet...I like those a lot.

Do you have magazines on technology or shortwave radios or golf or design or hiking or living healthy or even your will? Is your book a murder mystery, a biography or a Harlequin Novel?  Does it have plans for your future or connections to your past? And what do those things have to say about you?

See what I mean? So...what do you have on your bedside stand?

Have a wonderful day.

  1. I have a couple of weekly current events magazines along with the monthly AARP on my nightstand. I used to be a ferocious reader before sleeping but not so much anymore. Sometimes those magazines stack up from week to week now. Other than that there is not much there. The alarm for the deaf which is seldom used and the electric blanket control and a bottle of water (I snore and it dries my throat out)

I guess the bedroom is pretty much for sleeping now... (ha)..

    1. :) I think you must be a very good sleeper (save the snoring). Not reading before bed will leave the mind at ease I think...hopefully.

  2. A book, my reading glasses, and the cuff for my elbow to prevent a pinched nerve.

    1. Isn't it funny that as we age we need a medical device of one kind or another at the bedside. Are you a tennis player?

  3. My glasses, my cell phone, a large pile of books-some started and some new ones, mini book light, alarm clock-do not use alarm now that I am retired, and a picture of my sons.

    1. Of all the things that you listed, I think the picture is probably the most important and telling.

  4. My bedside "table" is a 4-tiered ladder shelf with a black mother/child figurine; a lamp; pictures of young second cousins; a bronze turtle magnifying glass that belonged to a special aunt, now deceased; clock radio; phone; books, books, books - some I'm currently reading, some I have read, some are yet to be read; current lifestyle magazines; a dictionary; cowboy art made by a close friend. I enjoy reading and listening to the radio prior to falling asleep. I often enjoy my first cup of coffee sitting in bed listening to a morning radio program or reading.

    1. Oh my goodness, you are my kind of person. I hate to admit it but if I let myself, I could become a bed nester! AND coffee in bed is one of my guilty pleasures too.
