Bad Golfer Barbara spends a lot of time looking for her golf ball in the cactus! |
Even when I am on Facebook, I have to fight to keep Bad Barbara at bay. She can really be snarky and mean. I am sorry that she even exists but there you have it.
For example, today I found a post with the question that asked, "What do you think of the 'man bun'?". That would be a man with a bun on the back of his head to bring his long hair under control. Bad Barbara really wanted to say, "I don't care. I am too busy thinking about world peace."
I wish that people would use "I" at the beginning of sentence and "you or me" at the end, i.e. "Jenny and I went shopping." or "It was really too much for Jenny and me." See what I mean. If I were snarky I would take the time to point that I think that is a mistake. (I might add that I am not an expert so sometimes I wonder if I am right.)
But here is the thing about people like me that live in glasshouses, bad things happen when stones are thrown. You and I both know that.
So I will keep working to keep Good Barbara around. She is worth saving.
Oh, Happy Halloween!

You are correct in the grammar statement. There are so many egregious examples that I just have let my inner stickler go to sleep. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy inner stickler is not mean but it does pay attention.
DeleteI don't care about the grammar statement. I am too busy laughing about the man bun!
ReplyDeleteSmile!!!
DeleteI saw that man bun thing and thought about it for a nanosecond before I clicked to something funny. I'd rather laugh. Also my grammer usually sucks, but when I see spelling errors on store signs I go wild!
ReplyDeleteThose can be funny though.
DeleteUh oh, now I'm feeling self-conscious about my grammar. But I don't have to worry about the man bun. I have a man bald spot instead.
ReplyDeleteYou people make me laugh! Thank you for the comment.
DeleteSocial media has made us all lazy. I guess it would be more correct to say that it has made a lot of us lazy. I don't get out my red pencil for those sentences that don't have a subject because I just chalk it up to social media laziness. I do however find myself searching for the red pen when someone writes, "Jenny went shopping with Sue and I." My rant is over. I will also try to follow your advice and be nice.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about the man bun thing until I read this. Now, I understand some of those photos I've seen on Facebook of Lincoln with a bun on his head. Thanks for keeping me up with the times. I was totally out of that loop.
I am glad that I am not alone on the grammar bit. As for the man bun thing who really should have an opinion on personal taste. Don't you agree.
DeleteI am enjoying your blog. There is always something interesting on here to read about. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteCome on back some time. Thank you for enjoying. That is the idea!
