This was not the first email has been sent out explaining to the men that they should not do this...it was one of those "once again with feeling...don't do that!" kind of messages. It went like this:
To all golfers:
Again, it’s come to our attention that some members have urinated on the golf course. Please note we do have rest rooms available in the clubhouse and on hole #14.
|Arizona Golf Course...so many trees and|
so many rules!
As before, if nature is calling please head to the closest facility. The folks who live on the course with their family do not want to see people relieving themselves in public.
Here is the law regarding exposure:
Arizona’s Laws on Indecent Exposure
According to A.R.S. 13-1402:
“Is peeing in public indecent exposure in AZ?
Peeing in a public setting constitutes indecent exposure. An officer can arrest someone who is urinating by the side of a road because they are exposing themselves in an inappropriate manner. Although the offender may not know they are committing a sexual offense, the law still constitutes the exposure as sexual and indecent.
Please DO-NOT Urinate on the course.Thank you!
I can tell that the golf course official writing the email was really mad...I corrected the misspellings and punctuation because that is what I do.
So, as you can see, it is not only creepy to pee on the golf course, it is also illegal! Wow...both creepy AND illegal.
We have the same problem here in Oregon on our golf course. Signs are posted asking the golfers to respect the neighborhood, etc. It has been an ongoing problem forever.
I recall an older lady calling the pro-shop to complain about a man peeing on a tree with in plain sight of her back window. She didn't know who it was but she could give them a vital piece of information...the man was left handed. I am sure that narrowed it down!
Is this a problem everywhere? I wonder.
Yuck. Well, I couldn't afford any home on a golf course and I guess, in a way, that's a good thing. A very good thing.ReplyDelete
Yes, there are some positive to not living on a golf course. Men urinating and broken windows come to mind!Delete
I live in a golf community and I've never heard of this! Disgusting and so inconsiderate.ReplyDelete
Well, that is a different world. The view is normally beautiful but then there are those men that just can't wait to go. It is an ongoing problem.Delete
As yet, I have not encountered this on the links, nor have I seen anyone trying to play golf in the lavatory. Good thing, too!ReplyDelete
Well said. I have played with strangers that excused themselves. I just learned to avoid eye contact but it was creepy!Delete
I don't live near a golf course, but for several years one of our neighbor's live-in guy friend used the back outside corner of their garage to mark his territory. Their garage corner was directly in the line of sight from our back door and windows. I lost count of the number of times he was out there whizzing when I opened our backdoor or came in the back gate. Every time my husband would go out to make bar b cue, there was the Whizzer whizzing. The Whizzer always had a can of beer with him. The guy could have just gone into his house to use the bathroom. It's not like their yard is that big. We learned to just avert our eyes if we were opening the door to go out to our back yard. It was weird. If my kids would have been little and this was going on, I don't know what I'd have done. Calling the police would have seemed a little extreme, and would have made for neighbor problems, but how would we have brought the subject up to the Whizzer or his girlfriend. I'm just glad the Weird Whizzer is gone from there.ReplyDelete
Your story is much better than mine! I am glad your Weird Whizzer is gone...did he die or just move? I just had to ask.Delete
Yet another possible reason why I no longer play golf.ReplyDelete
Well, I will tell you this Bob, no Weird Whizzer is going to chase me off the golf course. I am hoping it will be the other way around. I love to play golf.Delete
I've given that some thought where we currently live because our living room window looks out on a tee. Thankfully we've suffered from no such displays of indecency. Curiously, though, my wife -- not a golfer or much of a sports fan for that matter-- is fond of remarking, "old men looking for their balls" whenever she looks out and sees the predominately elder and male golfers from our window. Perhaps indecency on golf courses can take place inside the condos too. And so it goes. - MartyReplyDelete
