This made me giggle. I remember thinking this same thing when I was 55. Now that I am older, I am not sure if anyone will notice when I am two steps from the dirt-nap. I think that sooner or later someone would wonder why I slept so much but it is not a given.
The truth of the matter is I have faced that fact that I am old. Just because I don't feel old doesn't change a thing. In fact, I see it as my job to change the definition of "old" by example.

I wrote this five years ago...still something to think about. Any thoughts?
Instead of marking three out I am going to add a few:
ReplyDeleteGrunting whenever you get up.
Your breakfast is now made up of pills
Always nagged by one pain or another
You made me laugh RJ!. Adding three is good too. Who knows we may have a workable list before long.

Hi Barbara, I think I needed the humor this week. I recently have developed some pain and cracking in my neck. Doing PT, but it's a sign of age. Too much bending over the computer and two car accidents! But I'll take SMART, WISE, USEFUL and I'll add: EMPATHETIC, CAN LINK PAST TO FUTURE, FAITHFUL. Hugs, Beth
ReplyDeletePerfect! Thankyou Beth.
DeleteHow about "nothing surprises me". When I was working with 20 somethings, something out of the ordinary would just derail them, but I had seen it before, and I knew if it was time to panic, or not. Also, grey hair is beautiful! I'd love to see that added to your list somehow.
ReplyDeleteI walk the "grey hair walk". Not only do I think it is beautiful, I wear it with pride. :)
