A life with just me and the open road? HMMMM! |
In spite of the "only child syndrome" I have always yearned for company and people to care about. Freedom would be very lonely for me I think.
So I struggle to understand what it would be like to come and go with no one to answer too. Would it be nice to get up on my motorcycle and go east until I was tired and then stop for the night or come back home by another route?
One of my daughter's friends teen son stated that he was never going to get married. His mother who was very happily married asked why.
"Well," he said, "I don't ever want to have to compromise."
Maybe that is what being "free" is all about. There is never any compromises or give and take. Simply put it could be all about the person that lived that life.
What do you think?

When I think of that slogan, I think FREE of stress, FREE of needy adult children, FREE to go where my husband I want to go, FREE to live a snowbird life style, Etc. Right now, we are the somewhat care givers of my elderly parents who reside in a nursing home. My sister didn't want to help so she felt FREE to move 1,000 away.
ReplyDeleteI certainly don't want to be FREE of my husband, just want to be FREE together.

I have been where you are in your life. Because I am an only child, I had no choice My mother's care was my responsibility for many years.
ReplyDeleteFree for me back then was a weekend escape with my husband. In fact, I still love those quick little get aways and they seem to be enough.
You definition of free is the one I embrace. And it is absolutely true that many time the person that chooses to be free and leave all the care behind is done at someone else's expense. Sad but true!
Sorry, I did not proofread this before I posted. It should say:
